Over a hundred million pounds of squid are exracted from OUR Southern California waters every year. The beneficiaries are a handfull of squid and light boat operators, a few domestic brokers and a lot of foreign brokers and merchants. The majority of money derived from the EXPORT of OUR squid is made by the foreign processors and merchants. ALL of us who relish the health of OUR waters share the loss of that most vital forage and except for a very few, we have absolutely nothing to show for it but the continuing degredation of the environment we cherish so much....

Is it even fair for a few to export so much vital forage from OUR State waters?

As concerted effort is made to restore OUR fisheries, some fishermen are going to be displaced from their jobs. Lets keep that in perspective. Boing aircraft has eliminated over 20,000 (TWENTY THOUSAND INDIVIDUALS OUT OF WORK!) jobs in Long Beach alone in the last 5 years. i don't recall anyone protesting Boing on behalf of all of those FAMILIES that were suddenly without income.

time marches on....
