Secondary Air source question

I've been trying to follow the whole 'Spare Air' vs. Pony bottle thing in other places. I kinda figure that for what a Spare Air unit costs I can get a whole Pony, valve, and reg. So cost is a wash.

1. When do you recommend taking your own secondary air source.
OE is a no brainer (not that I'm headed there yet). But where
does one draw the "depth" line? Night?

2. What's your recommended setup (or for those who love to argue,
what's the best :-)?

3. Where would you aquire such a system?

4. Are there any "gotchas" I should look out for when getting
or using your recommended setup?

5. What have I not considered here, that you have learned from
your experience?
