Mike, it's another sad day, we have lost another diver on Farnsworth. We have lost many divers there and almost all for the same reason. Farnsworth is steep and deep and you need to have your shit together to dive there.
I know that there are those on this board that think that all dive Instructors and Dive store owners only give out Disinformation, but here are few thing to think about before you dive one of these deep reefs.
1. Have the training and experience to make this type of dive (OHE class, or a real deep diving class).
2. Have the right gas mix, for this type of dive.
3. Have the right amount of gas (doubles).
4. Have redundance in your system.
5. Know how to use a lift bag and line reel.
6. Plan the dive (go down the line, reel off it, come back to the line, 1/3 out 2/3 back) already have your tables figured out before you go down, stay in your plan.
Farnsworth is one of the best dives in SoCal, it doesn't have to be dangerous if you have your shit together.
